Change Perspectives: Stay True

Today, I want to talk about something that we all experience in life: change. As we go through life, our perspectives—the way we see the world—can and will change. We might gain new experiences, learn new things, or meet new people who open our eyes to different ways of thinking. This is a natural and important part of life. But even as our perspectives shift, there’s something that should remain constant: who we are at our core.

You see, our perspectives are like lenses through which we view the world. These lenses can be shaped by many things: our upbringing, our culture, our experiences. They help us understand what’s happening around us and guide our decisions. But just like how a pair of glasses might change to help us see better, our perspectives can change to help us understand better. This is not just okay; it’s necessary. It’s how we grow.

However, it’s important to remember that even though our perspectives may change, our core values—what makes us who we are—should remain strong. These values are the beliefs and principles that guide us, like honesty, kindness, respect, and integrity. They are the foundation of our character, the essence of who we are as people.

For example, you might once have thought that you could only succeed by following a certain path in life. But as you grow and learn, you might realize that there are many different paths to success, some of which you never considered before. That’s a change in perspective. But what doesn’t change is the value you place on hard work, perseverance, and doing what’s right.

It’s also important to recognize that changing your perspective doesn’t mean you’re being untrue to yourself. On the contrary, it means you’re open to growth and understanding. You’re willing to see things from different angles, to admit when you’re wrong, and to learn from others. This is a sign of strength, not weakness.

But as you navigate these changes, hold on to the values that define you. Let them be your compass, guiding you no matter where life takes you. They are the true reflection of who you are, and they should remain steady, even when everything else around you changes.

In closing, remember this: It’s okay to change your mind, to see things differently, to grow. But never lose sight of who you are. Your perspective may change, but your core values should remain unshakable. That’s the key to staying true to yourself while embracing the changes life brings your way.

Thank you.
